No. 079.Fine and rare Swiss tortoise shell singing bird box, by Bontems circa 1900. The shell box in particularly fine condition. The top of the cover is engraved with a basket with flowers. The lid and ajour work are gilded. When the slide is activated the lid opens, a colourful feathered bird pops up and moves from side to side moving its beak, neck, wings and tail in time with the chirps produced by the internal bellows and tuned pipe. Then the bird drops back into the box and the lid closes automatically. Most attractive. Condition of bird and case are excellent. HxWxD 3,5x9,7x6 cm. Price 6.500,-- euro. No. 079. Mooi en zeldzaam schildpad speeldoosje met zingende vogel, Bontems Zwitserland c. 1900. Schildpad doosje in een bijzonder goede conditie. Deksel is gegraveerd met een mand met bloemen. Deksel en ajour versieringen zijn verguld. Wanneer de schuif-hendel naar rechts geactiveerd wordt, wordt het deksel geopend, de kleurrijke gevederde vogel duikt op en beweegt van links naar rechts en beweegt zijn snavel, nek, vleugels en staart en zingt dankzij het interne balgmechanisme. Na het zingen valt de vogel terug in de doos en het deksel sluit automatisch. Zeer aantrekkelijk en fascinerend. De vogelmechaniek en het doosje zijn in een excellente conditie. HxBxD 3,5x9,7x6 cm.
