A fine and imposing French giant carriage clock by the renowned  maker clockmaker Gustave Sandoz, Paris 1836 - 1891. On the backside of the dial signed with initials A B, stands for Achille Brocot.
The gilded case with four nicely shaped Corinthian columns and carrying handle. The dial with roman numerals and signature Gustave Sandoz, Palais Royal, 10 Rue Royale, Paris. The subsidiary dial for the alarm has Arabic numerals. Eight day movement of the finest quality, alarm and very nice Westminster striking mechanism on four gongs, grande and petite sonnerie or silent. Signature on one of the platines. Visible platform escapement  with platform-glass engraved decorations, ornamental shapes and crown. Movement and case in a perfect condition. The clockmaker Gustave Sandoz is born in Paris 1836, was apprentice of Perusset, started his own workshop in the Rue de la Monnaie and moved in 1865 to the prestigious Palais Royal 147-148. Has obtains several awards for his work as clockmaker. Died 1891.

No. 184. Een imponerende giant reisklok, G. Sandoz, Westminster/grande and petite sonnerie op 4 gongen, wekker, circa 1870.
Mooie en imposante Franse giant reisklok gemaakt door de vermaarde klokkenmaker Gustave Sandoz, Paris 1836 - 1891. Aan  de achterzijde van de wijzerplaat gesigneerd met de initialen  A B, wat staat voor Achille Brocot. Vergulde kast met vier decoratieve Korinthische zuilen en draaghandel. Wijzerplaat met Romeinse cijfers en de signering:  Gustave Sandoz, Palais Royal, 10 Rue Royale, Paris. De kleinere wijzerplaat voor de wekker heeft Arabische cijfers. Achtdaags uurwerk van zeer goede kwaliteit, wekker en een bijzonder Westminster slagwerk op vier gongen, grande en petite sonnerie of silence. Signering op een van de platines. Zichtbaar platform echappement. Het platvorm-glas is gegraveerd met siervormen en een kroon. Het uurwerk en de kast zijn in een perfecte staat. De klokkenmaker Gustave Sandoz is in 1836 geboren in Parijs. Hij was een leerling van Perusset en startte zijn eigen werkplaats in de Rue de la Monnaie, in 1865 verhuisde hij naar het prestigieuze Palais Royal 147-148. Hij kreeg verschillende onderscheiding voor zijn werk. Gestorven in 1891. HxBxD 22x13,5x12,5 cm.
