An important "Religieuse" in a matter of the "Hague clocks" with extremely unusual quarter striking on two bells and half hour strike, the walnut case with ebony overlay, glazed front and sides with gilt bronzes. Two clocks on top and three hammers movement are turning in the "Hague style" clocks. Wooden ground plate for the movement which is typical for Isaac Thuret, original velvet! signature plate moving to activate the pendulum. Square movement, 9,4cm high and 11,5cm width. Spring drove two train movement, verge escapement, two count wheels, cycloid arches and short pendulum.
This very unusual and collectible French clock was one of the first clocks with verge escapement after the invention of Christian Huygens. Christian Huygens worked a lot with Isaac Thuret. Isaac Thuret was one of the most famous clockmakers in this experimental period.
