An original unrestored miniature German Black Forest alarm and striking so-called 'Sorg' wall timepiece, circa 1840.
Enamel dial (diam. 58 mm.) with Roman numerals, arrow hands and brass alarm disc, chased brass front shield with Eros and the Lion. 30-hour weight driven movement with wooden plates, wooden wheel axes (holzgespindelt), anchor escapement and striking and alarm on a bell. Wooden case, hinged doors to be restored.
This type of small clocks was first made by master clockmaker Sorg in Neustadt and therefore is also called Sorg Uhr.
