A profusely engraved Gorge case mask dial carriage clock. French c. 1870. (Jules Brunelot Rue de Oberkampf 10, Paris)
The eight-day duration movement strikes the hour and half-hour on a gong, with a repeat button to the top allowing the hour to be struck at will. With its original movement and silvered platform lever escapement. The movement backplate is stamped with Brunelot's trademark ('B' in a circle).
The white enamel dial has black Roman hour numerals and blued steel 'Breguet hands'. There is a white enamel subsidiary alarum dial. Both dials with a fine guilloche gilded masked surround.
