A rare and attractively small Frisian 'burgomaster' wall clock, Friesland, Holland dated 1836.
painted dial (reverse dated 1836) with foliate spandrels and waterscape in the arch, applied pewter chapter ring with Roman numerals signed Veltman Amsterdam for the retailer, brass hands and alarm disc, 30- hour weight driven brass posted movement with anchor escapement, countwheel half hour striking and alarm on a bell, well proportioned stained oak case with broken pediment lined with brass mouldings surmounted by three turned finials, freeze and sides with painted scenes behind glass panels, cannted corners with ebonised pilasters, pierced shaped brackets and tail with brass lenticle.
