A Dutch so called "grootstaartschipper". Friesland, c.a. 1840. This type of "staartschipper" is much rarer than the type with the slightly shorter "tale". One-day mechanisme,weight-driven, striking on half- and whole hour. Alarm. In a very fine oak case, the hood crowned with "Fame" and "Atlas". The tale is decorated with a "Turkish knot".
