A fine small French repeater (3 bells) marquetry cartel clock signed on the movement and dial: G.I. Champion a Paris.
The exquisite marquetry 'contra partie' case and bracket embellished with coloured horn and Burgos mother-of-pearl.
Isodore Guillaume Champion was a Clockmaker of repute in Paris. (b. 1687 d. 1765). Clocks by Champion are in the collections of the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum and the Chateau of Peau.
