A good, original and charming brass 30 hr weight driven antique English wall clock with going and alarum trains. Anchor escapement, ca. 1750. The break arch brass dial embellished with acanthus engravings and wheat ear engraving to border. Signed on the break arch dial: Edw. Muddle Chatham. Edward Muddle (son of Thomas Muddle) was born in 1709 and recorded to work in Chatham (Kent) untill 1779. Although not recently overhauled, the clock is complete and in running condition. Its brass doors and lead weights are not likely to be 18th c. Diam chapter ring: 150 mm.
