A rare and original Dutch (Frisian) 'staartklok' with a so called 'wandelende soldaat' (patrolling guard) automaton. The clock strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. The corners of the typical 'folk art' painted dial depicting the 'four seasons'. 1st half 19th cent. The lead 'Apollon' pendulum aperture ornament with 'GL'(?) and 'TB' wedding(?) initials. The case of elm and oak. Although of good color and patina the slide has some restorations. Alarum missing. Dimensions: H.115 W.34 D.22 cm.
