'Pendule d'Officier' with hour strike, alarm and repetition, Germany ca. 1790 Signature: 'Christ Jähns a Berlin' Movement: Brass plated movement with verge escapement and balance. Hour striking on a silver bel, alarm and repetition. The going train with barrel and fusee. The striking train and alarm have spring barrels. Dial plate: The dial plate with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals to indicate the minutes. The finely engraved hands are made of brass. Above there is the engraved signature 'Christ Jähns'. Below is engraved 'a Berlin'. Backplate: There is a brass indicator for adjusting the accuracy of the going train. Also brass shutters for the windingholes. Case: The gilt brass case with engraved and stylised swags of floral decoration. The sides with engraved decoration are set with glass. On the right hand top of the case is the push button for the repetition. The whole set on four engraved feet. Duration: 30 hours Height: 19 cm, handle down. Width: 10,5 cm. Depth: 6 cm
