The glazed rectangular giltwood frame with concentric moulded borders mounted with a circular foliate carved inner frame holding the 5 inch silvered Roman dial with gilt engine turned bezel and centre, over the automata scene showing a cobbler, a young boy with a hammer and a woman spinning thread while two men drink and play a guitar, the spring barrel grande sonnerie movement with shaped plates, anchor escapement, striking and repeating on demand the quarter and hour on two coiled steel gongs, the automata activated via a wire rod on the right hand side.
