A very fine longcase clock . Signed: "wilkinson,Wigton" England, Cumberland. c.a. 1780 8-day movement, going-and striking train. Moonphase,date,sweep seconds. A brass dial with engraved silvered chapter ring and spandrels in the corners. Above the moon a silvered arch with the engraving" Time shews the way of life's decay." A very beautiful rich coloured mahogany case. The hood with swan neck pediment and 'verre églomisée glass panels. Height:2.35 m. Price: on request |
