A fine small French repeater (3 bells) marquetry cartel clock signed on the movement and dial: G.I. Champion a Paris. The exquisite marquetry 'contra partie' case and bracket embellished with coloured horn and Burgos mother-of-pearl. Isodore Guillaume Champion was a Clockmaker of repute in Paris. (b. 1687 d. 1765). Clocks by Champion are in the collections of the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum and the Chateau of Peau. ca. 1720. Diam dial 13,5 cm. Price: € 9800.- ex VAT |
