Nr. 390 Austrian picture frame clock with Rzebitschek music cylinder, circa 1840. Clockwork and musical box: The one-day grande sonnerie movement winds through the front, strikes on two gong wires. The clock is signed Ditheim and activates the high quality two tune music box at each hour. On the bottom: pull repeat the last hour, the other manually actives the music box while on of the side rods controls the shutter an the other is a pendulum start. Rzebitschek’s musical boxes are highly rewarded for their musicality and unique concept. Winner World Exhibition 1851, London, category musical boxes. A jeweller and gentleman are engaged in a discussion before a flirting servant girl. The background includes the neighbouring buildings as seen through the window and the back workshop where several figures are working . In the centre on the column is a clock which has an enamelled dial and is flanked by angels.. The clockwork and painting are housed in a carved gilt-wood ox-eye frame.
