An eighteenth-century Louis XVI ormolu mantle clock signed on the dial and the backplate of the movement Charles Dutertre à Paris, c. 1780. The case with a woman leaning on the left and facing a putto on the right is a symbolic representation of l'amour et l'amitié – ‘love and friendship.
